An Huntlist allows calling a certain number of extensions or external numbers. It is called sometimes as "Ring group".

There are several types of Hunt Lists, based on the strategy used to place the calls.

  • Ring All - All the extensions/numbers in the list are called at once. Beware, calling a large number of extensions all together, can put a bit of stress on your server.
  • Cycle - Extensions and numbers are called one by one, in the order defined, until one answers. If the end of the list of numbers to call is reached, the PBX restarts calling from the start.
  • Sequence - Extensions and numbers are called one by one, in the order defined, until one answers or the last number in the list is called.
  • Ring All over Loop - All the extensions/numbers in the list are called at once. Once the extension ring timeout, the extensions are called again, until the hunt list dial timeout.

The following options are available:

  • Use fast dialing - when this option is enabled, the extension is called directly, if possible, but some features, like "on answer" actions, are unavailable
  • Use Default Music On Hold instead of ringing - Play the MoH to the caller
  • Skip if exten is in use - Do not call extensions in use
  • Skip if exten is offline - Do not call offline extensions
  • Allow extension redirect - Allows extensions to set a redirect on the phone
  • Allow FMFM - Allows to follow FMFM for extensions (may not work with fast dialing)
  • Allow additional destination - Allows to follow Additional Destinations set for extensions (may not work with fast dialing)
  • Request confirm to answer - When an extension answers, ask for confirmation before connecting the call

Due to the way Asterisk handles SIP messages, it is possible not all extensions receive the "Answered Elsewhere" message when someone answers.
